My photographic work is defined by a poetics of ambivalence and contrasts, finding its most articulate expression in the urban landscape.
Space becomes the terrain of research, where every trace and every mark left by man becomes the sign and metaphor of existence. The gathering of these “traces” allows for the mapping of ambiguous relations between the man-made and the natural: humanity seems artificial and the artificial seems “mortally human”.
In post-industrial landscapes and abandoned areas my work becomes the search for a lost humanity, the echo of which can still be detected. Nature is an ill and almost fleeting presence; the penetrating nostalgia has nothing of the Romantic past, but rather, relates to a disquieting present. Contaminations is the recapitulation of this: it reveals man’s relationship with his environment and, in this specific case, with the place assigned to the production of energy in the now abandoned industrial area of Porto Marghera.
Nevertheless, this neglect cannot prevent the natural making room for Nature, which manages to swell even in soils that are still today contaminated with a permeating and heavy chemical pollution.
Despite being ill, this nature manages to reappear in surprising ways.

Il progetto Contaminazioni percorre una poetica di ambivalenze e contrasti, che nel paesaggio urbano trova il suo più articolato compimento.
Lo spazio diventa un terreno di ricerca, dove ogni traccia e ogni segno lasciati dall’uomo divengono indizio e metafora dell’esistenza.
La raccolta di questi “resti” permette una mappatura di relazioni ambigue tra artificiale e naturale: l’umanità risulta artefatta e l’artefatto risulta mortalmente umano.
Nei paesaggi post industriali e nei luoghi abbandonati il mio lavoro diventa la ricerca di un’umanità perduta, di cui si rintraccia ancora l’eco.
La natura è malata ed è una presenza quasi sfuggente; la nostalgia che la impregna non ha nulla del passato Romantico, ma è piuttosto di un presente inquietante.
Contaminazioni è il sunto di tutto questo: rivela il rapporto che l’uomo ha con l’ambiente e, nella fattispecie, con un luogo che fu adibito alla produzione di Energia in una zona industriale di Porto Marghera, ora abbandonato.
Quest’abbandono però non limita il naturale farsi spazio della Natura, che riesce ad espandersi anche in suoli non ancora bonificati dal pesante inquinamento chimico che ancora li impregna.
Natura che, seppur malata, si riaffaccia in modi sorprendenti.
